We’re really excited to announce the launch of GEM’s new redeveloped website, which is more modern and user-friendly!  Find out below what some of the new features are!

With thanks to a Museum Resilient Fund grant from Arts Council England, GEM’s new website aims to better support anyone interested in learning through museums, heritage and culture.  You can now search for training, events and resources in the sector, all of which we will continue to grow with time.  We hope the fresh new look will allow you to find the information you need more quickly and easily.  Thanks to the team at Thirty8 Digital, our website gurus, who helped us produce our new look and mobile-friendly website!

Below are highlights of some features that are new and improved:

Training and events
Here at GEM we are committed to making professional development opportunities more accessible and connected for all those involved in the management and delivery of museum learning.  With our new training and events calendar, you can search for relevant training and events happening near you, and even advertise training or events that would interest other members and users – a basic listing is free!

Resources
GEM’s old website had a wealth of resources from past work and projects – these and more are now available in our new resources section.  Our searchable resources section will signpost you to useful resources designed for museum and heritage education professionals.  We will be working on expanding and growing our resources section and we’re on the lookout for free, high-quality resources to feature – so if you have one in mind, do get in touch!

The value of heritage education
At GEM we believe that education and learning is at the heart of our museums and heritage attractions and that its impact in our society is wide reaching and incredibly valuable.  This is why we’ve created, with the help of Sheila McGregor, a whole new section on the value of heritage education.  It is there to be used to help evidence and make the case for the important work that our workforce does.  We will continue to work and improve on this resource, and plan to create a downloadable document that can be shared.

Signup to our eBulletin
For those of you who are GEM members, our eBulletin has changed!  Our new eBulletin will be a fortnightly email newsletter with the latest news, training, events and jobs listed with GEM.  If you want to receive our new eBulletin, sign up for free here!  We hate spam and never share your information.

Going forward, we plan to add more video content, and grow our existing and new features.

We hope you like the new website, and if you have any feedback, please let us know!
