Building a Successful Learning Programme

28 August 2019 @ 10:00 - 16:00

£20

Following on from our symposia, MGS offers themed learning opportunities to our delegates, and the wider heritage sector, to complement the theme of the symposium and embed the learning.

This session is designed to follow-on from our June learning symposium, Bright Sparks: Shining A Light On Museum Learning. During this session, through practical examples, we’ll work towards participants creating their own individual action plans.

We’ll cover…

  • Making evidence-based decisions about your schools programme
  • Marketing to schools
  • Creating Curriculum for Excellence based content and sessions
  • Thinking through the practicalities of school visits
  • Consulting with and gathering feedback from pupils and teachers

The day will also include peer-to-peer sharing and networking opportunities to allow participants to share their own experience, knowledge and ideas.

Who should attend…?

Participants should be delivering, or planning to deliver, a schools programme within a museum/gallery/similar setting. This programme can be in-house, outreach, or a mixture of both. Participants can be volunteers or paid members of staff. This course is aimed at those who plan and develop school programmes.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will create their own individual action plans, relevant to their organisations. This will include several activities they can complete during the course, as well as actions they can undertake once back in their workplace.
