Co-Producing with Young People in the Heritage Sector

26 October 2020 @ 14:00 - 16:00

Free

Join us for a two-hour training session on ‘Co-Producing With Young People in the Heritage Sector’, delivered during ‘Represent’: a partnership project by Ignite Yorkshire and Geraldine Connor Foundation.

This training will be centred on collective discussions around co-production with young people, why it’s important in the museum sector, and how we can embed this in our practice for the Represent project and beyond.

It will be led by Laura Rakotonirina, a freelance creative arts producer, musician and printmaker who cares about inclusivity across the arts and beyond. She works between Bradford, Leeds and North Yorkshire in the live arts, heritage and music education sector. In 2019, Laura programmed, facilitated and coordinated the ‘Don’t Settle’ project with the Birmingham youth arts organisation Beatfreeks. She worked with young people of colour in Birmingham and the Black country to co-produce solutions to make heritage more inclusive of minoritised communities. Laura designed two year-long youth development programmes for 16-25 year olds.

Ignite Yorkshire is one of 12 projects in the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Kick the Dust programme which aims to make heritage relevant to the lives of a greater number and diversity of young people across the UK and is led by IVE. Information about Ignite Yorkshire, the partnership behind it, its work and how to get involved can be found at www.igniteyorks.org

The training will take place on Zoom. We will send you the link to the Zoom session closer to the time.
