From Empire to Independence: Engaging with Colonial Histories

22 November 2023 @ 10:00 - 12:00

Museums play a vital role in engaging with and interpreting the history and legacy of traumatic events. They act as bridges between the past and the present, providing spaces for reflection, learning, and healing. Here, we explore the ways in which museums are instrumental in the discourse around the history of the 1947 Partition of India. The workshop will discuss what this history is? What is the role of the empire within it? What is the legacy of it today? How is it curated and commemorated? And what needs to be done to build empathy and acknowledgement for this history?
