GEM North East Event: Back to Basics: EYFS

17 March 2021 @ 14:00 - 15:30

Free – £5

These sessions are designed to go back to basics and focus on low budget, day to day activity. Be inspired by examples of practice in our region through these practical sharing sessions. Our sessions will share activities and ideas for both virtual and in person learning.

In March we will focus on the Early Years and be joined by: Charlotte Spink, Learning Assistant, Oriental Museum, Durham University

Charlotte develops and delivers the EYFS programme across two venues as well as work on community engagement with a range of other audiences. During this session she will share the main principles underpinning their early years work, their experiences of taking their programmes online and two practical low-cost ideas successfully ran in in-person sessions.

Amy Baird, Assistant Learning Officer: Early Years Programme, Great North Museum: Hancock. As part of Newcastle University, the Great North Museum: Hancock inspires curiosity, learning and debate through a stimulating, innovative and provocative science, and cultural engagement programme. In the session I will be sharing an overview of our EYFS programme, sessions on offer to families, and what we did in response to Covid and lockdown. Whether you already have a EYFS programme and would like to hear more about another museum’s offer or are at the beginning of an EYFS journey at your venue, this session will hopefully give you some ideas for activities on a budget!
