GEM North East: Welcoming your Visually Impaired Visitors
13 August @ 10:30 - 12:00
Free
Are you interested in learning to better support your visually impaired visitors? Join the GEM North East team for a morning of visual impairment awareness training, a practical sighted guiding learning session, an introduction to audio description, and sharing ideas when it comes to welcoming visitors with visual impairments to your museums and heritage sites.
This session aims to provide a safe space to better understand how museums and heritage sites can support their visitors with visual impairments and give you increased confidence within your teams at museums and heritage sites when welcoming visitors with visual impairments.
There will be plenty of time for questions throughout the sessions.
A cuppa and some biscuits will be provided. We are encouraging all attendees to bring their own reusable cups and if possible travel to the venue via public transport.
All those who work or think about education or visitor engagement in a museum, gallery or heritage setting are welcome, whether you are a GEM member or not.
