GEM Sensational Museum Training
12 June @ 14:00 - 16:00
An event every week that begins at 14:00 on Friday, repeating until 19 June 2025

Join GEM and the Sensational Museum Project in two bespoke training sessions for museum learning professionals where you will:
-Find out more about the Sensational Museum Project and its approach to rethinking the role of senses in museums through co-creation and the lived experiences of both museum professionals and visitors. The project goes beyond adapating existing models of access by moving beyond sight or hearing as the primary modes of engagement
-Hear case studies from pilot museums involved in the project to gain inspiration
-Explore and understand how to embrace the project concept of Sensory Gain, which recognises that everyone can benefit from the access traditionally designed for disabled visitors.
-Come away with inspiration and practical ideas for how you can make your museum and programmes richer and more inclusive experiences for all visitors.
The sessions will focus on two strands of the project:
Strand A – Collections
Strand B – Communications
Attendees can attend one or both of the sessions, but we recommend attending both. The sessions will be recorded but they will be participatory so we suggest attending live to make the most of the sessions.
This training is free and open to all.
