Maths in Museums

This workshop aims to explore the ways you can integrate maths into your organisation’s school and family programming and events. The session is suitable for organisations which already have a strong STEM emphasis, as well as those looking to include more maths in their programming.

Are you looking to increase engagement with maths in your organisation’s programming? Would you like to develop confidence in using maths to engage with audiences?

This workshop aims to explore the ways you can integrate maths into your organisation’s school and family programming and events. The session is suitable for organisations which already have a strong STEM emphasis, as well as those looking to include more maths in their programming.

The day will cover maths topics and levels in the curriculum for excellence, maths links beyond the curriculum, case studies of organisations who have created cross-curricular maths resources and sessions, and information on the support available from Maths Week Scotland

The day will include time for participants to develop ideas collaboratively with support. If there are ideas or activities you want to develop for your organisation, please bring them along.

This workshop is organised in conjunction with Maths Week Scotland, a week of activity celebrating maths with special events throughout 2020. Now in its fourth year, Maths Week Scotland will take place 28 September – 4 October 2020.

Individuals either directly employed by or volunteering with a museum organisation in Scotland are eligible to apply for a place on any of our advertised courses.
