Whether you’re able to actively engage or simply listen in while enjoying your lunch, this session is tailored to suit your needs. While cameras and microphones are optional, you’ll still have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with others if you wish. Think of it as a chance to pause, reflect, and absorb new ideas – all without disrupting your day.

This concise 90-minute course is designed for individuals in the creative, cultural, and heritage sectors looking to enhance their project planning and strategic decision-making using Theory of Change (ToC) models. Whether you’re in the early stages of project development or seeking new ways to communicate your programme or organisational impact, this session offers a clear, practical framework for success.

A Theory of Change is a powerful visual tool that maps out how change happens, linking your activities to long-term outcomes. Unlike a logic model, it begins with identifying the need for a programme and works backwards, setting out the steps required to achieve meaningful impact. As a visual representation of how change is achieved, a ToC helps to clarify the assumptions behind your work and the outside factors that might affect it. This makes it a useful tool for evaluating progress, developing programmes, and planning strategically. It also helps you to engage stakeholders and demonstrate your organisation’s vision and values in a clear and compelling way.

Participants will explore the core principles of Theory of Change models and learn how to apply them to their projects. Through guided examples, you’ll gain experience in developing a ToC model to help clarify your goals and demonstrate your impact.

The session will cover:

Key components of a Theory of Change model: Understand how activities, outcomes, and long-term impact are interconnected.
Identifying assumptions and external factors: Learn how to recognise potential influences on your program’s success and plan accordingly.
Using ToC models for strategic alignment: Discover how to use these models to align stakeholders, track progress, and communicate your impact to funders and partners.

By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with the tools to apply Theory of Change models effectively, ensuring clarity, direction, and measurable success for their programs.
