Supported by the Baring Foundation, Manchester Art Gallery has been exploring how the development of a trauma informed practice can benefit visitors across a variety of ages and backgrounds. The legacies of the pandemic, the cost of living crisis and international strife have stimulated anxieties from the youngest to oldest residents in our local communities. Can museums and galleries respond and provide a positive environment for all our visitors, whilst exploring sometimes challenging themes and subject matter? This day will be an opportunity to see what we’re doing, what developments are quick wins, what changes are taking longer, and to share your own ideas of how this practice can move forward.
