GEM Scotland is represented by two Area Representatives Parris Joyce and Sue Healy.

Parris Joyce is a Learning Offer at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Ayrshire. Her job is varied: she develops, delivers and evaluates learning, event and outreach programmes. She also manages volunteers, supervises learning trainees, improves and champions accessibility and conducts research and creates content for social media channels. She has a BA Hons degree in History and an MSc Museum Studies degree with a specialist interest in women’s history and the Scots language.

Parris has been a member of GEM since she was a student and is keen to establish supportive and friendly networks as well as interesting and useful CPD events around Scotland.

Sue Healy is a Museums and Heritage Consultant. She has developed her passion for heritage through her community engagement role with people with disabilities. She has a particular interest in agricultural and maritime heritage; and she recently enjoyed undertaking a research assignment on the subject of Glasgow’s Red Road Cultural Project. She’s currently involved in co-curating a small community exhibition about Papple Steading at John Gray Centre in Haddington whilst studying Museum Practice and Management through the University of Ulster.

Sue is looking forward to connecting with GEM members across Scotland and collaborating in the future.

Parris and Sue will be hosting an #EdSkillsShare on Thursday, 30 April from 15:00-17:00 which will focus on the following topics:

  1. Asking for recommendations and the training needs from the Scottish GEM and wider heritage educator community
  2. Scottish GEM institutional members shout-out’s
  3. Scottish themed challenges
