Role Description

Art & Soul, ( is seeking a practitioner with Art Therapy training or practitioner with similar specific experience and training within arts &mental health, to facilitate expressive art workshops in Richmond upon Thames . We are seeking a dynamic and committed individual, to start in the coming year, with a view to becoming a regular member of the team. You will be planning and delivering in-person and online art workshops to support adults and young people with their mental health so specific training and experience with this audience is a must.


About us

Art & Soul is an arts and wellbeing charity that uses creative activity and positive community engagement to support mental wellbeing. Art & Soul has been operating since 1999, and became a registered charity in 2017. We work in partnership with various community venues, charities, heritage sites and organisations to deliver workshops across the borough of Richmond upon Thames.

This year Art & Soul initiated  a new programme of sessions with young people, fostered new partnerships, and hosted our first festival of events including a virtual exhibition. We have ambitious ideas for 2022 and seek someone who will share our passion for this work.

Our charity aims include:

  • enhancing wellbeing for Richmond-based adults and young people through structured creative activities run by qualified and experienced practitioners.
  • reducing mental health stigma and support community wellbeing through creative events and workshops.
  • creating a supportive and safe environment for those experiencing mental health challenges.
  • empowering members to connect with others, develop skills, reduce stress and to positively re-engage with the community.


Person Specification:

  • We are seeking a qualified practitioner with Art Therapist training or similar specific, quantifiable experience and training within the arts & mental health.


  • The successful applicant will need to be available for workshop sessions taking place twice weekly, in blocks throughout the year. Sessions are usually approximately 2 hours long plus planning & admin time. Other ad-hoc work may be available in addition to this.


  • You must be willing to travel to West London and having working knowledge of the West London area would be a bonus.


  • You must be flexible, personable and experienced in collaborating with other members of the team.


  • Administrative/planning experience including experience of evaluating mental health impact using recognised scales is desirable.


  • Experience in delivering online art sessions would also be a bonus.


  • This is a freelance position and requires a DBS check.
