The role

Epping Forest District Council’s Community, Culture and Wellbeing Service have an opportunity for an Assistant Learning Officer to join its dynamic and successful team for a one-year fixed term contract, based across Epping Forest District and Lowewood Museums.

The Assistant Learning Officer will work with the Education Officer to deliver formal and informal learning opportunities with a heritage education focus for the service in the Epping Forest district and Borough of Broxbourne. This includes assisting with the ongoing development of the schools’ education programme and family and lifelong learning initiatives.

The person

The ideal candidate will be able to help develop and deliver a programme of high-quality, curriculum-based workshops for schools visiting the museums to increase footfall and generate income in addition to the outreach service. They will be highly motivated with the aptitude to work independently demonstrating the ability to maintain excellent working relationships at all levels.

The post holder is required to have a clean driving licence and use of a car.

The scope of the service

Epping Forest District Council’s Communities, Culture and Wellbeing Service is based at Epping Forest District Museum in Waltham Abbey.  It also provides management services at Lowewood museum in Hoddesdon on behalf of Broxbourne Borough Council.

Epping Forest District Museum was extended and refurbished three years ago through at National Lottery Heritage funded project.  It now provides a contemporary base for a team of museum and arts specialists who deliver a range of services within the museums and out in communities across both local authority areas.
