GEM Cymru is seeking a consultant to support museums as they navigate the most significant change to formal education for a generation. This radical new education policy presents museums in Wales with an exciting opportunity to work closely with schools across the breadth of the new Welsh curriculum. With the support of the Welsh Government Culture and Sport Division, GEM will equip & train learning professionals to confidently plan new learning programmes based on the needs of teachers.
An experienced consultant is required to deliver this Welsh Curriculum Consultation and resulting report. The consultant will conduct the following tasks:
Consult museums (including Local Authority, University, Independent and National) across Wales to identify training and support needs to deliver the new Welsh Curriculum.
Consult the formal education sector in Wales (including or via the regional School Improvement Consortia Wales, education networks and schools) to identify support needs and opportunities for implementation of the new curriculum through museums and heritage organisations
As an element of this consultation, the GEM team anticipates the consultant will hold at least one training event incorporating teachers and museum educators so as to explore commonalities, challenges and opportunities for future training and roll-out
iii. Resulting Recommendations:
Recommendations for any future skills development, training and support to deliver the new curriculum in the Welsh museums, galleries and heritage sector.
