As our new Outreach Assistant, you will be responsible for refining and implementing the Breaking New Ground engagement programme; including oral history interviews between school pupils and former employees of John Laing plc, the creation of films detailing these oral histories, celebratory events commemorating the organisation`s impact upon England`s built landscape and the development and distribution of teaching resources that detail best practises for intergenerational heritage work.

In this varied role, you will organise a timetable to deliver an engagement programme where Key Stage 2 school children will hold oral history interviews with former John Laing plc employees, use engagement activities to facilitate learning relating to the post-war period of English history and emphasise the unique role that John Laing plc played in this era and commission a consultant to produce and develop a teaching resource of case studies around how to engage school children in heritage projects.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working or volunteering with young and elderly people. With a comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding issues, you are also an excellent communicator and influencer with a proven ability to build and sustain positive relationships within and across teams. With experience of working or volunteering on a heritage, cultural or oral history project, you have experience of planning events where all risks are identified and mitigated.
