Royal Crown Derby Museum is looking to create a small team of casual staff to support the delivery of their premium tours offer. The Museum offers pre booked factory tours and museum and archive tours. Your job will be to deliver these tours taking people round the hands on museum and factory tours and ensuring they have an amazing experience. Your warm welcome and enthusiasm will make our visitors feel special and your top class tours will be an experience they will remember for a long time.
You will usually be offered work of a minimum of two hours on any given day, it could be longer on some days.
To set up the tours as booked
To meet and greet the small group for the tour
To welcome and get to know the tour participants
To deliver the tour of the Museum and Archives or Factory
To tidy up after the group has left
NB we are currently operating in a COVID secure environment, tours are limited to 6 people and guidelines will be made clear when we know more from the government. Tours will be launched from 26th July. Full training in content and delivery will be given.
Essential skills and experience
A smart friendly manner and the ability to make people feel welcome, comfortable and valued
An ability to adapt your delivery style for your audience
A willingness to welcome all visitors of all ages and from all backgrounds
Excellent communication skills
A good team player
Experience of working (or volunteering) with the public.
Desirable skills and experience
An interest in history heritage and or porcelain
Experience of working in a museum, education or similar organisation
Your initial contract will run for just over one year
You will be reimbursed for holiday pay to which you are entitled.
The role may be subject to a DBS check
Rate of pay is currently £9 an hour
Closing date 9am 14th June
Interviews will be held in the week beginning 28th June, training (for which you will be paid) will take place between then and our planned opening date of 26th July.
