New Trustees Join GEM to Drive Inclusion and Innovation in the Museum Learning Sector
We are delighted to announce the appointment of new Trustees to the Board of Group for Education in Museums (GEM). The new Trustees bring a wealth of expertise and diverse perspectives, strengthening GEM’s mission to champion high quality and inclusive learning for all in the museum and heritage sector.
The new Trustees are:
- Fran Jeens, Head of Education and Engagement at UK Parliament, who brings extensive experience in public engagement and developing educational programming that reaches diverse communities.
- Morgan Fail, Learning Co-Ordinator at North East Museums, whose work focuses on creating inclusive and impactful learning opportunities for a wide range of audiences.
- Melany Rose, Head of Learning and Creative Programme at Discover Children’s Story Centre, a specialist in early years education and creative programming.
- Ashleigh Hibbins, Head of Audiences and Learning at Culture Perth and Kinross, who has a strong background in audience development and accessible learning programmes.
- Shereen Hunte, Engagement Manager at the Museum of London Docklands, known for her work in connecting communities to heritage through innovative engagement programmes.
- Andrew Edger appointed as Treasurer.
In addition to the new appointments, we are pleased to announce that Caroline Marcus will be continuing for another term of office after six highly successful years as GEM Chair. Her leadership has been instrumental in driving the organisation’s growth and GEM’s focus on inclusion initiatives.
We also thank Ben Pearce,Deputy Chair, alongside Ashley Almeida, Laura Hill and Karin Molson, who continue to serve as Trustees.
GEM has long been an advocate for access and inclusion in the sector, and we hope that the breadth of experience and perspectives our new trustees bring will help us support museum learning practitioners across the four nations.
