About

I have a diverse portfolio, with a career spanning almost three decades working in England and Wales. Since 2021, I have worked as freelance museum and heritage consultant (See www.lpodmoreconsulting.co.uk)

I enable museums, sacred places and heritage sites to thrive by helping them to develop and enhance their visitor experience. I achieve this through research, understanding audience needs and utilising interpretive tools and creative learning activities – an approach that enables visitors to engage, enjoy and learn. I also strengthen the ambitions of the museum team or trustee board by ensuring audits, realistic policies, plans and workforce training is in tune with the strategic vision.

Along with a down to earth disposition, I am solution driven with an eye for detail. I bring creativity, experience, research and planning skills to my work.

More Details

In April 2021, I launched my consultancy, L Podmore Consulting, providing guidance on museum development. Case studies can be located on my website. In recent times, I wrote supporting documents to aid two National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) bid applications as an associate. Separately, my work on the Wellbeing case studies in Welsh museums and a small study on the UCL positive wellbeing umbrella was published by the Welsh Government. I also have completed workforce and learning audits and interpretive development, more recently this branched into working with a church. I have delivered online training and am available for in-person training too. I am a qualified museum professional (M.A.) and coach. I have actively mentored for GEM’s 1-2-1 scheme.

Throughout my career, I have worked for organisations such as the National Trust, local authority museums, independent museums and charities with direct experience at living history museums, historic houses, heritage gardens and industrial sites, as well as traditional museums and galleries. I have a soft spot for industrial heritage and historic houses.

Some of my clients include the Welsh Government;  Nantgarw China-Works Museum, Staffordshire’s Holy Trinity Church, Llangollen’s Plas Newydd Historic House and Gardens; Denbighshire’s Ruthin Gaol; Conwy Culture Centre; Flintshire’s Bailey Hill; Greenfield Valley Heritage Park.
