About

I’m Meghan Tipping, the educator behind Rooted in Talk. A former primary school teacher, curriculum designer and heritage engagement officer.

I started Rooted in Talk because I am passionate about innovative approaches to education and believe that offering genuine opportunities for purposeful talk is key to engaging young people in heritage and museums.

If you are interested in creating engaging learning experiences, I would love to hear from you.

More Details

Meghan is an experienced primary school teacher who has led the development of a History curriculum and embedded a whole school approach to Philosophy for Children (P4C). Meghan has since worked as a Design Lead for a non profit education provider developing multiple units of work for primary History, Geography and Science programmes.

In 2022, she completed an MA in Global History at Sheffield University, researching how Britain’s colonial past has affected the teaching of History. She has particular interests in how Philosophy for Children and a dialogic approach can support the teaching of sensitive subjects.

More recently, Meghan was the Activity and Engagement Officer, as part of a National Lottery Heritage and Community Fund project, at Sheffield General Cemetery. Meghan developed, delivered and evaluated a programme of events and activities that engaged a wide range of visitors in the natural, built and cultural heritage of the site. She also designed resources to encourage learning through dialogue and creative activities within the unique outdoor environment.
