More Details
I am passionate about heritage and culture!
I am a cultural project manager and consultant with a focus on engagement and support of heritage and arts clients and organisations to create, plan and deliver projects, engage communities with this work and explore new ways of experiencing creativity through history. This involves collaborating with partners, clients and staff to manage activities and events for successful delivery.
I also deliver oral history training, and reminiscence training, both in-person and remotely, and can also provide support and consultancy around cultural and heritage projects for clients.
I aim to encourage participation and outreach. This is through projects involving oral history, reminiscence, creativity and archive material to engage a wide range of groups and individuals in creative and cultural activities, including recording people’s life stories and memories to encourage learning, knowledge transfer and skills development.
I have worked in the cultural sector since 2005, both as a freelancer and employee, and have extensive experience of engagement with and partnership on creative heritage projects in London and the South East as project manager. I am also a qualified social worker with a focus on trauma-informed practice which supports oral history delivery and community engagement.
I work with Fabrica gallery, Age Exchange, NHS, University of Brighton, UCL, English Heritage, University of Sussex, Polka Theatre, Nutkhut, HMDT Music, Brighton Dome/Brighton Festival, Historic England, National Trust, Brighton University, Black Country Living Museum, Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust, Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust, and Royal Holloway, University of London amongst others.
I was a Director for Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage CIC for 12 years, developing projects, developing partnerships, managing freelancers and volunteers, creating strategy, funding, delivering activities and providing training for diverse groups across Sussex (https://strikealight.org/).
As a registered Social Worker with an MSc in Social Work, my experience in mental health engagement, safeguarding and trama-informed provision informs all of my work.
I am a member of the Group for Education in Museums, the Oral History Society, British Association of Social Workers, and registered with Social Work England.
I am qualified to teach in the higher education sector (NVQ L4), and have a full DBS disclosure and Public Liability Insurance.
My work involves collaboration and design with partners to manage projects, activities and events for successful delivery. In these roles, I am confident, well-networked, and skilled in engaging creatively with development, fundraising, partnerships and products.
