GEM Study Trip – Budapest

Join GEM for a Hungarian Study Trip!

Due to the situation with COVID-19, GEM is closely monitoring whether or not this event will take place in May or run at a later date.

GEM is planning a study trip to the beautiful city of Budapest, the capital of Hungary for 14, 15 & 16 May 2020. As an international organisation, we are excited to be taking Gemmers to a great arts and culture city to learn first-hand about museum education practices abroad from professionals working first-hand in museums and heritage sites.

The trip will include visits to the Hungarian Open Air MuseumVasarely MúzeumHungarian Museum of Trade and TourismGoldberger Textile Museum and Hungarian National Museum

Each day will be full of lectures, demonstrations, tours and hands-on workshops from a variety of museum education professionals. Directors, curators, educators; there will be a variety of staff from various Hungarian museums to speak about their experience with museum education and delve into how things are done there and what has, and hasn’t worked for them.  There will be lots of time to ask questions and think about how these new practices might be integrated into your work.
