GEM Museum Learning Research June 2023 – March 2024

About

GEM is excited to be conducting a review of the successes, needs and challenges of the museum and heritage learning sector as part of our Arts Council England IPSO (Investment Principles Support Organisation) programme 2023-24.  This review is an opportunity for our members, partners and stakeholders to tell us how GEM can support the sector in future so that we can plan this into our 2024/5 & 2025/6 IPSO work and be an effective advocate for the sector. Please consider taking part and read on below about how you can participate. We are aiming for at least 300 completed surveys by the end of September and would be so grateful if you could spare the time to do this.

Thank you.

Rachel Tranter, Director – June 2023

Take part in the survey

The survey has now closed but thank you very much to everyone who participated. Your feedback is invaluable.

Take part in a consultation

If you would be willing to take part in a discussion either individually or as a team, we would love to hear from you to understand your priorities, needs and to hear about your successes. Discussions can take place on site in your museum or online and bookings are open now for July, August and September.

Individual case studies

Whatever your career stage – we would like to hear about your journey.  How could GEM help you if you are a student, early in your career, a freelancer or keen to gain a leadership role? Discussions can take place online and arranged by email.

Confidentiality

All contributions to this research project will be confidential unless participants grant permission for names to be acknowledged in the report.

What happens next?

The results from the survey and research will be collated into a report to highlight priority needs and challenges and this will inform GEM’s activities over the next two years of its ACE funding as an IPSO.  The outcomes of the research will also be shared with the GEM community and with key stakeholders including other sector support organisations.
