Inaugural Cultural Inclusion Conference
18 October @ 09:30 - 16:30£20 – £50
We are delighted to announce the first Cultural Inclusion Conference on the 18th of October 2018 hosted at The Lyric Hammersmith.
Over 60 organisations and politicians have joined disabled people, teachers, artists and parents to sign the Cultural Inclusion Manifesto.
This inaugral conference responds to a commitment in the Manifesto for schools, arts and heritage organisations, disabled people and experts in access to work together to ensure cultural inclusion is seen as an entitment for all young people with disabilities.
With a choice of six practical workshops, provocative key notes and opportunties to work together on solutions, this is a chance to both learn from others and to be at the front of developing a National Cultural Inclusion Strategy. The outputs will feed into Department for Education, The Durham Commission and the Arts Council and will form the basis of a report to be launched at House of Commons in January 2019.
This Conference will be a space where we celebrate the great things that are already happening around disabled young people’s access to arts and culture. As producers and consumers of the arts. As visitors to heritage and cultural venues. As employees and entrepreneurs in a thriving and diverse cultural industry. As the leaders in the stories at the centre of drama, dance, image and performance.
The conference is supported by NASEN, Lyric Hammersmith, GEM and EveryChildShould.
Ticket prices cover direct costs. Organisers are giving their time with no cost. We ask that those organisations that can afford to pay full price do. We have a limited number of free and discounted tickets and some funding to support access.
