Intersectionality for Museums

What you will learn

This 90-minute interactive workshop is tailored for those who want to understand intersectionality in museums. It will provide an introduction to the concept and will also support participants to explore and embed using inclusive language. Aimed at developing practical skills that can be used within museum and heritage settings, the workshop is designed to empower participants to communicate more inclusively, fostering engagement with marginalised groups and communities. Participants will receive a bespoke workshop e-book with additional resources to delve deeper into the subject.

Who runs the course?

Laïla El-Métoui is a multiple award-winning Equity Educator, listed on the TOP 50 for the Diversity Power List 2023/24, Pride Power List 2021 and Stonewall Lesbian Role Model of the Year 2020.

She is the founder of Educating Out Racism, Pride in Education, Proud London Councils, the Pan London Forum for LGBTQ+ staff network in local authorities, UK Queer Arabs, and the Embassy Model Summits.

Laïla El-Métoui has been promoting greater acceptance for marginalised and over looked communities for over 30 years. She combines personal experience as a disabled Arab lesbian, with industry-leading strategies to champion more inclusive environments.

When & where is it?

This virtual session will be delivered on Wed 20/03/2024 10:00 – 11:30 via Zoom. You can expect a dynamic interactive and participatory session packed with practical exercises and tips. The training Zoom link will be sent to all participants prior to the event.
