HOW TO: Create a Compelling Case for Support

11 October 2023 @ 13:15 - 14:00

This 45-minute session (inc. 15-minutes for Q&A) is led by Georgina Nayler, Chair of Trustees of London Historic Buildings Trust, and former Director of the Pilgrim Trust.

Articulating your project’s aims, impact and scope is a critical part in securing any type of funding or support. Before you begin your fundraising journey, you should look to establish a Case for Support which brings together the ambitions of your project into a short, concise document. This Case for Support will then form the foundation of any and all fundraising initiatives. It is particularly important to have when more than one person is involve in fundraising.

Georgina, using her extensive experience in managing a leading built heritage, will explore what makes for a compelling case for support, and what doesn’t. She will cover:

-Purpose of a Case for Support
-Preparing a Case for Support
-Audience, messaging and tone
-Contents and structure of a Case for Support
-Utilising a Case for Support
-Top Tips – the DO’s and Don’ts of a Case for Support
-Links to further information and resources

This session is aimed at those new to developing and delivering heritage projects, or those that want to refresh their existing knowledge.
