How to implement playful ideas in a socially distanced world

5 August 2020 @ 10:00 - 11:30

Free

With Kids in Museums, Charlotte Derry, Museums and Play Consultant, and Penny Wilson, Playworker for Assemble/PlayKX.

Are you concerned about how to offer family visitors a joyful and engaging experience whilst maintaining strict social distancing guidelines? Or do you want to start a long-term change to become a playful family friendly venue?

On 5 August, National Play Day, Kids in Museums is running a free online workshop to share playful ideas for reopening and explain how to be part of their new project with Playful Places.

You will hear about tried and tested playful interventions that you can set up outside your building to attract families back into your site. All of the ideas have been run and evaluated with social distancing in mind and you will learn about the key considerations to build into any risk assessment.

As inspiration, we will hear from Penny Wilson about the work of playworker-artists outside the Kings Cross redevelopment.

We will also share details of how you can apply to be part of our new project supporting venues to develop their play offer in a socially distanced world. We are offering 10 venues the opportunity to receive online mentoring, teaching sessions and guidance on assessing risk and benefits of implementing new ideas. Participation is free, all we ask in return is that venues document their work and contribute to creating case studies and an online training session at the end of the project.

Book your place to find out more. If you’re interested in being considered, but can’t attend the event, please email [email protected].

Free but booking is essential.
