HOW TO: Understand your Community and Audiences

27 September 2023 @ 13:15 - 14:00

This 45-minute session (inc. 15-minutes for Q&A) is led by London Historic `Buildings Trust (LHBT).

If you are looking to deliver a heritage project for local people, it’s important to have a thorough understanding of your community: who makes it up, what’s important to them, and how your project could benefit them. In doing so you can subsequently identify the particular ‘audiences’ within that community who you wish to focus on, and why. This builds for a stronger project, and greater impact.

LHBT will explore:

-Why understanding your community is important, and what you should find out
-Tools and resources for understanding the community
-What do we mean by audiences, and why should they be identified
-What do we mean by ‘diversifying audiences’ and why is it important
-Top tips when exploring your community and audiences
-Links to case studies and further information

This session is aimed at those new to developing and delivering heritage projects, or those that want to refresh their existing knowledge.
