Making sense of academic research

21 September 2022 @ 15:00 - 16:30

£15

This online session for practitioners in museums, archives, libraries and other arts and cultural organisations will explore how to find relevant academic research and use it to improve your own service.

There are many ways in which academic research can be used to develop and improve cultural services – including learning and community engagement practices. However, it’s not always easy to make sense of what published research actually means for practitioners.

This introductory session, designed for practitioners with little previous experience of academic research, will demystify some of the language used in academic papers and describe how to relate the research to your own situation – focusing on the aspects of articles that are likely to be most relevant from a practitioner perspective.
