Safeguarding for Museum and Heritage Learning Programmes

Join GEM for an online an introduction to child protection & safeguarding training (refresher) for museum and heritage learning practitioners delivered in partnership with Artswork. This comprehensive 2.5 hour workshop will focus on safeguarding and help you to consider your work with audiences in a safe way.

For safeguarding to be effective in practice, everyone in your arts , culture or heritage organisation should be aware of the categories and indicators of abuse as well as the process for reporting concerns. By taking this online training , you will leave with an understanding of the safeguarding principles for museums and heritage sites.

The training will enable you to:

  • Explore the background to safeguarding
  • Learn about the different categories of abuse
  • Learn how to identify concerns in the context of the work that you do
  • Develop confidence in how to apply safeguarding practice within your role

Who is it for?

This course will include helpful and practical information on adapting and developing new safeguarding practices. This course is for anyone interested in safeguarding and embedding safeguarding principles and policies in their museum learning practice.
