Creating Family Friendly Museums: Afternoon Cuppa Session (Wales)

2 October 2023 @ 14:00 - 15:30

Free

Join us for an informal virtual briefing and discussion session to help you think about low and no cost changes you could make to enhance your museum’s family provision using the Kids in Museums Manifesto.

Our Manifesto is a set of simple guidelines for museums, heritage sites and cultural organisations created with children, young people and families. It sets out what they feel makes a heritage site a great place to visit.

We will also be launching the pilot version of our self-assessment tool, which is aimed at museums to enable them to do a light touch self-audit of how well they meet our Manifesto. The self-assessment tool is particularly aimed those with limited budgets.

In this session, we will:
– provide a range of practical ideas to inspire the family friendly provision in your organisation
– hear a case study from the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum about the changes they made to their family – offer following a Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Audit
– share how your organisation can take part in the self-assessment tool pilot
– create opportunities for attendees to informally share about their current family offer and put ideas from the session into practice in their organisation.

Please bring along your own cuppa and snacks!

This event will be delivered virtually over one and a half hours. This session will be delivered in English with bilingual slides, with an option to provide a Welsh language interpreter. The Kids in Museums Manifesto and self-assessment tool are also available in Welsh.

Run in partnership with the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales and generously supported by the Welsh Government.
