Gateways Into Heritage

26 March

Free – £25

Come and join us for a packed day of fascinating and enjoyable talks, workshops and performances. There will also be the opportunity to visit English Heritage property Ranger’s House just a short walk away for a tour led by our English Heritage Young Producers. Later on, hear from our fantastic keynote speaker, Aardman Academy.

We’re inviting everyone across the creative, heritage and youth sectors who would like to learn more about what we can achieve when we collaborate, working with young people to participate in, and shape through meaningful youth voice, creative programmes and projects. We can fundamentally impact and future-proof our organisations while offering authentic development opportunities for young people and ensure our work is relevant and inclusive for all, shaping best practice across our sectors. This will be a day to hear from a huge range of people involved in creating and benefitting from these opportunities in addition to sowing creative seeds for future work.

We’ll be kicking off the day with a short introduction by Gerard Lemos, Chair of the English Heritage Board of Trustees and will be joined shortly after by Melissa Strauss of the National Lottery Heritage Fund to talk about the legacy of ‘Kick the Dust’ youth engagement funding from where the English Heritage Youth Engagement Team originates. Throughout the day we’ll welcome a number of creative partners including Photoworks and Coney, youth partners and Reverberate recipients including We Make Culture, Rap Club and Falmouth University and hear from young people across various projects who have been directly impacted by their involvement.

By the end of the day, attendees should walk away buzzing with creative ideas, have made new connections and be excited at the prospect of bringing more young people into their organisations or being able to offer their existing young people engaging and empowering opportunities through new relationships and fresh perspectives on heritage.

This is a full day of activity in beautiful Greenwich which is well serviced by public transport. The venue is accessible and we will be providing lunch and refreshments over the course of the day. We hope that you can join us and please do share the opportunity far and wide.
