A new free event about the future of museums and heritage designed and delivered by young people, for young people.

Aged 16 to 25 and interested in museums? You are invited to attend this one-day event, which is being planned and led by our Kids in Museums Youth Panel.

Research from DCMS and Morris Hargreaves McIntyre shows that only 12% of 16-24 year olds felt London museums told stories that were relevant to them. This is an opportunity to tell us what you want to see from museums and help change perceptions.

The Future is Now: Museum Youth Summit is a space for you to discuss, learn, advocate and build new networks with your peers. Your views will be heard on a national level and generate fresh new ideas for the heritage sector.

Hear how museums are currently working with young people, get involved in panel discussions about the future of this work – and, of course, enjoy plenty of coffee breaks and crafts! We will feedback the results of your discussions to the heritage sector, forming the core of our advocacy for young people in museums.

Free, but booking is required. Travel bursaries of up to £50 each are also available.

The Museum Youth Summit has been made possible by an £11k Movement for Good Award from Benefact Group. Kids in Museums was chosen by a panel of judges to receive a share of £500,000 as part of Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards, which is giving over £1million to good causes this year.
