More Details

I work with museums and heritage sites who want to engage with diverse audiences. I bring a background in the education, charity, local authority, and cultural sectors, plus lifelong familial and professional experience of disability and neurodiversity. Hence, my knowledge of SEND and my growing work helping museums improve their accessibility. My training and advice cover general disability awareness, autism, neurodivergent conditions more generally, learning disabilities, sensory needs, and dementia.

I deliver hands-on learning for all ages and abilities, formal and recreational. Having developed the City of London’s learning service for Epping Forest, I have lots of experience creating and delivering cross-curricula and leisure sessions in various outdoor habitats, historic buildings and in schools. This continues today where I enjoy working in a variety of environments usually involving museum collections. My particular NC subject area is history but I teach most topics and I’m used to dressing-up when the need arises! I believe enjoyment should run through all learning, interpretation and engagement.

I research and produce resources. For example, I have recently helped to create a touring exhibition, run themed family art workshops, and worked on an interactive WW2 school session. I am keen to reveal society’s less told stories and to work with people involved with them. I was commissioned to write in-depth articles which used material hidden in museum archives and involved interviewing contributors. I have also worked on digital material such as home-education activities and an outdoor investigative trail for children.

I hope this gives you a flavour of what I do.
